Résumé
À la suite de la tentative d'assassinat sur Knut, des rumeurs selon lesquelles le roi veut tuer Knut se répandent à York. Le roi ne peut donc délivrer aucun ordre qui pourrait mettre Knut en danger, et Askeladd se félicite de la réussite de son plan. Mais la situation se retourne lorsque le roi Sweyn fait un discours. Pendant ce temps, Thorfinn est envoyé en prison pour atteinte à l'ordre public.
